Landscape Lighting

After the home is built, and the yard is landscaped, there is nothing more to consider, right? Wrong! To really set off a home and increase the visual living space, it really pays to include an outdoor lighting scheme. Not only will a beautifully lit exterior play up a home's features, but it adds security and value. It is fairly easy to imagine the difference one feels, sitting in a living room at night with black windows, and sitting in a living room with a view of a softly-lit yard, highlighting trees or perhaps a walkway. Being able to see beyond a dark window increases the visual space around you and also limits hiding areas for would-be prowlers. In addition to visual space, you have additional living space. Proper lighting extends the hours you can enjoy your garden, porch, or patio all year long. Once exposed to high-quality lighting fixtures and the effects possible, you won't want to be without it.
The best way to choose these fixtures is to spend some time in the "landscape lighting laboratory" at Wholesale Electric. This simulated home exterior has a landscaped yard complete with trees and bushes. There are more than 30 individually controlled fixtures for a dramatic presentation of such design techniques as down-lighting, moonlighting, spotlighting, grazing, silhouetting, shadowing, up-lighting, and cross lighting. The lab features the "Kichler" line of landscaped lighting fixtures, which are constructed to commercial specifications using materials such as cast aluminum, stainless steel fittings, and power-coated finishes for durability against the changing weather, even in our volatile Midwest climate.
